Job description:
Based at École Centrale de Nantes, the Nantes Digital Sciences Laboratory (LS2N) is a joint research unit affiliated with the CNRS, with five co-supervising institutions (Nantes University, ECN, CNRS, IMT Atlantique, Inria). LS2N is located across five sites in Nantes.
We are looking for a research engineer who can facilitate access to AI computing resources and improve the reproducibility of AI methods. Below are the other tasks you will be assigned:
Guiding the selection of relevant methods and tools based on the problem at hand and the architecture of the targeted computing machines
Designing methods for modelling, computation and visualisation of results
Leading the experimental validation of computational methods designed to address a scientific problem
Assess the quality of the code, the quality of the results and their interpretation
Participate in national and international research projects and associated publications
Manage the lifecycle of computational data, its organisation and the monitoring of its use through to visualisation
Establish a technology watch on developments in the relevant hardware architectures and systems
Job requirements
Technical skills:
Knowledge of data, signal and image processing methods, particularly those used in the medical field
Proficiency in scientific programming tools: Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Weights and Biases
Proficiency in machine learning methods
Ability to analyse existing code, apply it to data, quantify performance and propose improvements to methods.
Proficiency in oral and written scientific communication in English: C1 (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
Proficiency in connecting to computers
Organisational skills:
Planning the required experimental validations
Proposing appropriate methodologies, taking into account the objectives and constraints of the project
Implementing connection guides for the various systems
Collecting and publishing online a selection of existing methods and code
Adaptability skills
Conducting professional activities in collaboration with PhD and Master’s students involved in the project
Taking appropriate initiatives (working independently)
Sharing expertise to contribute to the development of skills
Getting involved in scientific monitoring activities
Interpersonal and social skills:
Communicating and coordinating research activities with the team
Facilitating meetings
Required qualifications: You hold a master’s degree (Bac+5). A PhD in medical image analysis, computer vision, signal processing, biomedical engineering, computer science, medical physics, applied mathematics or a related field would be particularly advantageous.

16-month fixed-term contract
