At the École Centrale de Nantes, the Civil and Mechanical Engineering Laboratory (GeM) is a Joint Research Unit run by Nantes University, Centrale Nantes and the CNRS. Its aim is to bring together within a single laboratory all the expertise of the Nantes-Saint-Nazaire metropolitan area in the fields of civil engineering, materials and process mechanics, and modelling and simulation in structural mechanics.

Job description:

Under a 12-month fixed-term contract, we are seeking a candidate to contribute to the numerical modelling and stability analysis of flows in two-phase porous media subjected to thermal imbalance conditions.

Your main responsibilities will be as follows:

  • To carry out numerical modelling of flows in multiphase porous media.

  • To analyse the stability of immiscible displacement fronts.

  • To develop and validate multiphysical mathematical models.

  • To analyse and interpret simulation results.

  • To disseminate the results scientifically (reports, publications, presentations).

Job requirements

Technical skills:

  • Modelling multiphase flow in porous media.

  • Carrying out linear and non-linear stability analyses.

Organisational skills:

  • Presenting results at conferences and symposia.

  • Help organise seminars and workshops.

Adaptability skills:

  • Adapt to numerical techniques and use the GliCID supercomputer.

Interpersonal and social skills:

  • Work as part of a team.

Required qualification: You must hold a PhD (in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or Mathematics)
