Research Engineer in Multi-physics simulation

Within the École Centrale de Nantes, the Laboratoire des Sciences du Numérique de Nantes (LS2N) is a joint research unit attached to the CNRS with five cotutelles (Nantes Université́, ECN, CNRS, IMT Atlantique, Inria). LS2N is located in Nantes on five geographical sites.

Job description:

As a research engineer, your main mission will be to develop experimental platforms for Cable-Driven Parallel Robots with an application in offshore wind turbine maintenance.

You will be part of the RoMaS team, a 40 people research unit specializing in industrial robotics, medical robotics and manufacturing.

Your main tasks will be to:

• Work on the software and mechanical development of the project's experimental platforms
• Develop and implement control algorithms
• Perform experiments
• Compare experimental results with simulation results
• Write technical reports and deliverables on the work carried out.

Profile required

Technical skills:

• Mastery of the principles of multi-body physical simulation
• Mastery of the various programming languages associated with simulation
• Knowledge of different multi-physics simulation environments
• Fluency in written and spoken English and French

Work skills:

• Adaptability & organizational skills
• Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively
• Ability to analyze practices in order to improve them
• Ability to put knowledge into practice in the form of an article, research paper, presentation, conference or book.

Level required: You have a 5-year degree in robotics (Master's, engineering or Grandes Écoles).

A PhD in robotics would be a plus.
