Job description

Centrale Nantes is a prestigious engineering school that awards degrees to engineers, master's students and doctoral candidates who have completed academic programmes based on the latest developments in science and technology and best management practices.

As a member of the Écoles Centrales group (Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nantes and Paris), our school provides high-quality education for highly selected students.

A public institution under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Centrale Nantes has more than 2,250 students, 500 employees and 600 temporary staff.

Job description:

Centrale Nantes is involved in the FloatFARM project, conducting experimental campaigns on a SPAR model in the ocean basin. A large number of different environments (wind and waves) are being tested in order to assess fatigue behaviour and behaviour in extreme events. This campaign has three objectives: to better understand fatigue behaviour and behaviour in extreme events, to serve as a reference for the development of numerical models, and to develop experimental methods (in particular for taking wind-related forces into account).

Your tasks will include:

  • Analysing experimental data: Different types of tests must be processed, including irregular waves with or without wind, design waves and regular waves.

  • Numerically modelling experiments (simplified model and/or CFD model)

  • Writing reports and scientific papers
