Job description:

As part of the Amatsumara project, we are looking for a research engineer specialising in collaborative robotics for a 12-month fixed-term contract.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Getting to grips with the robots

  • Developing kinematic control laws for the robots

  • Validating the control laws through simulation

  • Carrying out experimental validation on the robot

Job requirements

Technical skills:

  • Proficiency in the kinematic and dynamic analysis of a collaborative robot

  • Proficiency in the use of impedance/admittance control

  • Ability to carry out the mechanical design of a prototype and produce technical drawings

Organisational skills:

  • Ability to manage one’s own work independently

  • Ability to plan the various milestones of a project

  • Adaptability skills:

  • Ability to conduct research activities in collaboration with others and contribute skills to the collective effort

  • Be able to engage in the various activities of the research project

    Interpersonal & social skills:

  • Be able to identify, prioritise and ensure the flow of information to the appropriate contacts

  • Be able to present oneself as an expert using clear and understandable language

Required qualifications: You must hold at least a Master’s degree and/or a relevant general engineering degree, and have a proven track record in the field of robotics.

Nature of the role

  • 12-month fixed-term contract

  • Open to contract staff and permanent staff

  • Category A – Research Engineer

  • Full-time role – based in Nantes

  • Travel required: National and international conferences (1–2 times a year); Work/team meetings at other laboratory sites

  • Occasional remote working

  • Remote working allowance
