Job description

Centrale Nantes is a prestigious engineering school that awards degrees to engineers, master's students and doctoral candidates who have completed academic programmes based on the latest developments in science and technology and best management practices.

As a member of the Écoles Centrales Group (Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nantes and Paris), our school provides high-quality education for highly selected students.

A public institution under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Centrale Nantes has more than 2,250 students, 500 employees and 600 temporary staff.

Job description:

Within the Ecole Centrale de Nantes, the Nantes Digital Sciences Laboratory (LS2N) is a joint research unit affiliated with the CNRS, which has five co-supervisors (Nantes University, ECN, CNRS, IMT Atlantique, Inria). The LS2N is located in Nantes at five geographical sites.

The following are the tasks and expected results within the framework of the postdoctoral contract:

  • Propose an electrochemical model of a Li-ion battery with a very wide range of validity in terms of current and temperature; expected result: Non-linear state representation of a Li-ion battery with a reasonable number of parameters, the values of which can be obtained without the use of complex equipment.

  • Analyse the sensitivity functions of the model parameters; expected result: identify the most sensitive electrochemical parameters and propose a classification of parameters

  • Estimate online, during battery operation, the few most sensitive parameters of the model; expected result: develop an observer capable of reconstructing the potential of the negative electrode to limit lithium metal deposition phenomena

  • Simulate battery control in a hybrid storage context; expected result: validate the behaviour of the model in a control loop

  • Write a scientific article; expected result: publication in a journal
