Job description:

As part of a maternity and subsequent parental leave cover role, you will report to the Head of Department. In this role, your responsibilities will include:

• Teaching engineering students in German

• Developing teaching materials and coordinating German-language teaching

• Recruiting and supervising external lecturers

Additional duties:

• Forming groups by ability

• Monitoring students

• Assessing and evaluating students’ knowledge

• Organising catch-up sessions

• Supervising examinations

• Communicating with students, permanent staff and lecturers in the department

• Attending teaching and information meetings

• Producing teaching materials and updating course content

• Coordinating the team and standardising teaching

• Implementing a quality assurance process

• Collaborating with colleagues from other teaching areas within the CLES department

Professional skills:

• Teaching experience in higher education or with adult learners

Technical skills:

• Knowledge of the CEFR and the ability to prepare students for work placements

Professional and interpersonal qualities:

• Team spirit

• Innovation

• Initiative

Management skills:

• Management of a team of external lecturers

Working conditions and requirements:

• Ideally a native speaker (the language taught must be the candidate’s mother tongue or at C2 level)

Required qualifications:

You hold a master’s degree or equivalent foreign qualification. You have experience of teaching adults and training in instructional design.

Nature of the role:

• Contractual teaching post – 11-month fixed-term contract

• Part-time role (75%) (288 teaching hours) – based in Nantes

Remuneration: in accordance with the civil service pay scales
